I never dreamed that the building and property that I purchased in Linden, New Jersey, merely for "investment purposes" would become one of the most recognized diners on the east coast, nor would I have believed that as a professional firefighter I would spend my days off running a thriving catering business – and loving every minute of it!
Bayway Catering located throughout NJ & NY
Our Story
I purchased the Bayway Diner in October of 2005 -- an old, rundown building which had seen better days -- with the intention of knocking it down and using the property as a parking facility. When the Linden community got word of my plans, however, I found that I would be destroying what was considered a cherished city landmark.
I’ve always loved the small, retro diners that I had visited as a kid -- the bright red and chrome exteriors, the counters where donuts and slices of homemade pie were humbly displayed, and the smells of fresh coffee brewing and bacon and eggs sizzling on the grill -- so it wasn't hard for the members of the Linden community to convince me to remodel the diner, hire a staff, and open its doors just three months after my initial purchase.
Shortly thereafter, I was contacted by a producer from Food Network and asked if I would be willing to have my diner featured in the pilot episode of the network’s new show Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives.
The rest, as they say, is history.
Bayway Catering came about in much the same way that Bayway Diner did -- that is, by accident. A regular patron of the diner asked if I did any catering. Without hesitation, I said yes, and the next thing I knew I was doing over 100 catering jobs per month with corporate clients such as PSE&G and Ave Corporate Hotels. More notable clients followed, such as the New York Jets and the cast and crew of the Style Network's Jerseylicious and Glam Fairy
As word about Bayway Catering got around among our corporate clients regarding the quality of our food, reasonable prices, and premium customized service, we immediately found ourselves filling requests for private holiday parties, backyard barbecues and more formal events such as christenings and weddings. Our philosophy is that no job is too big or too small, no request beyond our reach.
It’s been a decade since the inception of Bayway Catering. In that time, we have fed thousands of people with the primary goal of providing quality food and service at a reasonable cost to our customers who in turn get the satisfaction of knowing that they provided their employees, prospective clients, friends and/or families with the best food and service available.
